Adeyi Onah Daniel, Secretary of the National Population Commission (NPC), recently welcomed Aminu Yusuf as the new Chairman of the NPC. This significant event marks a new chapter in Nigeria’s population management and demographic data collection.
 
Dr. Aminu Yusuf, a seasoned administrator and academic, brings over four decades of experience in public service, education, governance, and community development to his new role. His appointment was unanimously approved by the Council of State and confirmed by the Senate.
 
During his assumption of office, Dr. Yusuf outlined a Seven-Point Strategic Agenda, focusing on rebuilding public confidence in population data, modernizing demographic systems, and delivering a credible, digital, and transparent census. He emphasized the importance of accurate demographic data for Nigeria’s development goals, stating, “Population governance is not a bureaucratic ritual, it is a national mission.
 
Adeyi Onah Daniel, in his welcome address, highlighted Dr. Yusuf’s expertise and commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s demographic data system. The event signifies a renewed commitment to improving population management and data collection in Nigeria, crucial for informed decision-making and national development.
