by OAIDC
September 21, 2025

Onah Adeyi International Disability Centre (OAIDC) convened a stakeholders’ survey meeting on September 12, 2025, in collaboration with First Step Action for Children and Women Initiative.

The meeting brought together stakeholders from diverse sectors, including Education, Health, Traditional Institutions, Civil Society Organizations, The Media, and People with Disabilities (PWDs), to ensure inclusivity. The primary objective was to enhance understanding and knowledge of menstrual dignity and justice. Extensive discussions centered on the transition from menstrual hygiene to menstrual dignity, emphasising respect, human rights, and inclusivity. Stakeholders proposed recommendations for policy statements, including government subsidies for dignity kits, increased awareness campaigns, and provisions for desk officers at schools. Additionally, they suggested distributing free dignity kits to PWDs, integrating dignity clubs in schools, and advocating for menstrual leaves.

All stakeholders participated in sectoral roles in menstrual justice, outlining their roles in research, policy development, advocacy, awareness creation, and accountability.

Mr Pius Abah a renowned disability advocate himself a person with disability and Esther Tsavza programme manager convened the event for Onah Adeyi International Disability Centre.
